In order to reduce the risk of structural fires and to better prevent smoke from becoming a nuisance to neighboring residents, the Allegheny County Health Department has implemented a strengthened version of its existing burning regulations.  Effective January 1st, all recreational fires must be located no less than 15 feet from any structure and from any property line.  The fire cannot exceed a size of 3 feet x 3 feet in area, and the flames cannot be allowed to reach a height of greater than 2 feet.  Please note that only clean wood, propane, or natural gas may combusted within a fire pit.  The burning of discarded lumber or trash of any kind is prohibited.
